META exhibition
In March 2007 department 3 of my school decided to exhibit a couple of selected projects from the previous semester. For the exhibition I created a booklet illustrating the whole proces of the project from initial mindmaps and writing exercises to an essay, conceptual diagrams, material samples, architectural references, plans and models, to the finished drawings, renderings, and models.
The book
”The city is pretty, but not photogenic. But why would I want to be in a handsome city anyways?”
"The ‘commoditization of services’, is an important aspect of globalization, enabling the contemporary nomad to gain his status as a member of a global workforce. For me being a nomad, in the professional sense, implies the ability to geographically move to a new city, a new country, a new work within days or weeks. I can say ‘Yes, I want that job!” without hesitation. I will move to where the (desired) employment is. Additionally I seek to live near places of interest, implying the cultural quality of a new space. In contrast to this stands the assimilation of cultural values contradicting the complex interests of a nomadic life that go beyond economic concerns."

The boards
"In every permanancy lies a little bit of temporality and vice versa. Your recreational vehicle is your moving home, while on a camp ground at least you own the tent and in a youth hostel your own sheets will feel a million times better than the ones that are provided. A hotel room can can be a strange place, but choosing a chain with the exact same room-layout brings familiarity back to the frequent traveler. On the other hand a movable or collapsible piece of furniture can fulfill various functions and uses. It adapts to personal routines, re-introducing a comfort you might miss in temporary situations. A massive building block and an ever changing scenery of scaffolding speak different languages. Their combined aesthetics allow for multiple interpretations and make cities worth exploring more than once."
